Tips & Ideas
Knowledge Share - Getting baby to sleep
Hello all,
In this thread it would be great to hear everyone's experiences of getting babies to sleep - something that all sleep-starved parents need a helping hand with!
What worked for you? Did you use any books or techniques to help get your baby to sleep, or did you take on board advice from family and friends?
What age did your baby sleep through the night?

I was blessed with two good sleepers and thought I had this baby sleep thing cracked, then I had my dd and it was 8 months before we got her to sleep before midnight and to sleep for more than a two hour nap (by bringing her into our bed, wish I'd thought of it sooner).
We did get a lot of good advice from the book The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley (you may have heard of the 'Pantley Pull-off' technique). Not only was it in line with my way of parenting, I didn't want to leave her to cry, I wanted her to settle happy, but I learnt a lot about what triggers babies to sleep and what wakes them, what is a normal sleep pattern and how to gently encourage self-settling and soothing.
You can get this book on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Cry-Sleep-Solution-Thro
and have a sneaky peak inside it too!
love
