hi,

I'm in my final year of uni and have found that I am picky eating, especially at the computer. So yesterday I took a bag of currents/raisens with me to the study room which I eat quite a lot of .... Now I suffererd the worst gas ever and its still seems to be an ongoing problem..... any ideas, do they have high fibre content? also I assumed they were quite healthly (as opposed to the rubbish I normally get from the vending machines) but I'm now wondering whether this is true!

Thanks

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the board. I hope you are feeling better now?

I think it may well have been because raisins are quite high in fibre. They are a healthy snack, obviously they are quite high in sugar but it is natural sugar and one of your five a day!  raisins have a medium GI which means they won't give make your sugar levels rise and then suddenly drop like other sugary snacks would. They will give you a more substained release of energy which is good and what you need for studying-maybe you had a few too many though to give you a bad stomach!

Good luck with your studying- it's tedious work isn't it?!

hi,

It certainly is.... and it just gets worse and worse up until May.

It does seem to be easing .... thankfully!! I was too embarrassed to stay in the same room with other people for too long all this weekend.

I'm glad theyre reasonably good for me .... I think I will lay off them a bit and mix and match with something else next time. I do tend to eat in response to being bored or in response to my emotions though, its very hard not too. Thinking about it I didnt feel lacking in energy on Friday evening even though I was at the library until 6.30 and hadnt eaten since the morning ;(

I know from past years that this is exam period is when I normally gain around half a stone, sometimes upto a stone and I am desperately trying to avoid it this year as I just need it - it makes me feel rubbish about myself.

i really do sympathise. i am in my first year at uni so i am new to the revision period but i am hating it already.

Do hang around with us on the board and post occasionally if you want to because it's nice to get a few more people around. It's so quiet on here most of the time, and i dont always have the time to post as much as i would like to try and liven the board up a bit.
