Ivillage seems to be my 'go to' when I am not in a good place and I feel guilty about coming here for help when I am not so great at helping on here!

Needless to say I am here for advice, so here goes. I think I am addicted to buying spells.

There I have said it and it sounds so stupid but I am serious. I come from a Christian background but have always believed in the paranormal and Magick. I don't practise Wicca but I do believe that it is powerful. That belief is getting me into all sorts of trouble. My ex left me and my son 2 years ago and I am not getting over him. Coupled with the fact I got made redundant have been trying to set up a business for about a year and basically having no income means my confidence is low.

I have literally spent 100's of pounds in buying spells from spell casters online to try and get him back. I know all that about free will and do I really want someone whom I am not sure if they truly love me back yet I continue to purchase more. From what I know about spells is that they are more likely affective if you do them yourself and also these people are prob not real and just wasting my money.

I have been living off of my savings as I registered self-employed (despite not having clients) and really can't afford to do this as not only are my savings almost zero and my elderly mum will have to help me out with bills to keep a roof over our head.

I know all this but I can't stop. I'm hurting so much, I want him back and I don't know what else to do. I've tried confidence building, hypnotherapy all sorts to let him go and I still want him. I'm scared I am going to have a breakdown as my head is all over the place.

No one else knows about this, my friends or family would go spare and likely send me to see a pastor to cast out demons or something equally in ineffective so I don't know where else to turn

Hi Diamond. Sorry you have had to wait so long for a reply but I have had other calls on my time over the last couple of days.

About buying spells. Please don't. The only people who gain are those who charge for creating a spell. There is also a problem with spells that are cast to draw others into a relationship or try to force another person's behaviour in any way.

This is certainly against the basic rule of Wicca which is to do no harm in any form. Spells like this can do untold damage - to you in requesting the spell and to the other people involved as the vibes emanating from the spell are actually negative.

You say yourself that, if your family knew what you were doing they would send you to a pastor to "cast out demons". Just another form of negative and dangerous activity I'm afraid.

So, the only answer is to stop buying spells. I wouldn't advise you try casting any yourself either. On the VERY rare times I cast a spell it is for a general healing (much like prayer healing in church) or to help me focus on a particular situation in the world.

No you won't have done that just by casting spells. 

Improving your life is in your hands but it will take some brave effort. Maybe learning to accept that some relationships do end. Finances and work in today's climate won't be easy but you will get there eventually I am sure. At least if you now stop spending money on spells, you might get a small amount of income again. Important thing to realise is that any decisions are yours, without the intervention of spell makers and throwers out of demons!!

Not sure if this is very helpful or not but I was always led to believe from my 'teacher' that spells that try to affect anyone's free will, will not work well. The Wiccan  belief is that things like Love Spells are possibly harmful and go against their belief of ' an it harm none'. Tabbs would know better than me though.

You sound in so much pain and I am so sorry that you are going through this but you path at the moment is only hurting you and will continue to hurt you if you keep the same pathway. I believe that angels help us and when something is 'broken' like this relationship, we should allow the angels to take it from our hands,repair it or replace it with something better and return it to us.
