Well my trip away was a bit of a disaster!
Hi all,
Well my week away with my friend and her DD wasn't what I was hoping for. They say you never know someone until you either live with them or go on holiday with them. We've been away together before so I wasn't expecting any problems. Only difference if we went without the kids last time.
She has 3 kids but 2 of them are older with an age gap. My little 3 are close together so not what she's used to. I did tell her about the early starts, usually around 5.30-6am and it's aways been known that DS2 wakes in the night 2 or 3 times for his dummy.
So cutting a long story short my boys were their usual selves, awake early and full of the joys of spring all day with the occasional tantrum chucked in. We'd also just got over a tummy bug at the weekend. So I had constant moans, digs and comments all week from my friend. She also showed herself to be rather selfish which I wasn't expecting. I had to say I was going to the shop at one point just to give myself ten minutes to calm myself!
On the Thursday it came to a head. I said to her to stop digging at the kids and she said it wasn't them but my parenting!!!!!!!!!!
DS2 had had a tantrum for 15 minutes for his dummy and I'd given into him. My choice and not something I should have to justify to anyone. We had a slight arguement in which she said she was going to get her other half to pick her up a day early.
Well it was a welcome relief.
DP ended up driving down after work that night. He didn't finish untill 12.30 in the morning and got to us at 3am. It meant we had Friday together which was lovely.
I've not spoken to my friend since. I'm still annoyed. Not only am I annoyed for how she was all week and what she said but I'm annoyed she ruined our week. I paid for the accomadation and she paid the fuel. So there is a big difference in cost. I know friendship isn't about money which is why I offered for us to go away together but I feel she could have put a lot more effort in.
I'm not sure where we go from here. We've been good friends for about 15 years only falling out once due to her talking behind my back which she admitted to. I am one for holding a grudge and I know it doesn't do me any favours. DP says he thinks I should just break the ice with her as we'll end up talkling anyway but I don't see why I should. I can't been mad for months though which I know isn't healthy.
So that about sums my week up really. I didn't get to do my child free shopping trip as planned last weekend either due to having a tummy bug.

Hugs Sunshine. I am sorry your holiday wasn't what you would have liked. I know you say you have been friends a long time but even the longest friendships can have sell by dates, if you know what I mean. As we mature our thoughts and opinions alter and it could be that you both have started to move away from the original friendship. Sorry, brain fog and trouble with finding the right words today so I hope what I said is sort of clear.
Hope everyone has recovered properly from the tummy bugs, they do wipe you out.
Hugs
Jillxx

We all seemed to have recovered from our tummy bugs..... looks like DS3 has chicken pox now though.
I think your phrase "even the longest friendships can have sell by dates" possibly describes how I feel right now. Not sure what I am going to do. We'll probably chat at some point but I think I will be a bit more distant.
