Water - meter or not to meter
I'm trying to decide whether to switch to a water meter. Do you have one?
We have water butts for the vegetable patch and with a hose pipe ban in place for the first time in our region in 20 years, we'll be much more careful this summer. But I've always resisted the meter idea as I don't want to live in fear of flushing the loo or running a hot wash.
Opinions and experiences would be gratefully received.

We moved into a house with a water meter about 4 years ago. For the first year I was sooo tight and scared to use it. Now I've got into the habit of turning the tap of in-between teeth brushing and am not so worried about turning the tap on. What I realised from looking at my bills is that a lot of the charges aren't actually the water but the sewage charges etc.
I've compared my bills to people without a meter and I don't think there is a lot in it. We're in a 4 bed house, there are 3 adults and 3 little ones at the minute. We have 3 loos so there is always plenty of flushing going on! lol We pay £37 a month for our water and it always covers it.

Thanks Sunshine, that's really useful. £37 per month sounds quite reasonable for 6 of you doesn't it?

Hi Maid,
we have a water meter and our bills have gone down. I think they also help make you more aware of just how much water you use.
