Little menace!!!

I've had a crap week in many ways, and an extremely busy one. ds2 has moved into his own home with his fiancee, leaving well over half of his belonging in his room (they never just move out with all their stuff I've discovered!). My mum has been coming to terms with living with a chronic cough and streaming nose, it looks as if she is heading for a COPD diagnosis, all brought on the doctor says, by passive smoking (the way she is is usually only seen in heavy smokers, which my dad was and they have said it was caused by passive smoking) and it's reallly knocked her for six.

Various other problems with the little ones and my mental health has not been good, but something certainly made me chuckle today. I was picking up dd from school and little ds asked if he could hold my walking stick while I locked the car, so I let him - and the little whatsit ran off with it!!! I can walk without my stick for a short distance but I'm a bit wobbly and I never know when my leg will give way so I was calling him to come back which made him think it was hilarious and run away faster! My walking stick seems to hold a special fascination for him at the moment, I suppose it must have looked quite funny to anyone watching!

How is everyone doing, any more smiles to share?

love

Hi teanna,

I'm glad you found something to smile about through it all.

My wee son, jason was 16 months old when my Dad died. My Dad had to used a walking stick. He took early retirement from work as he had "dodgy" knees as he called them. He required new knee caps but they wouldn't do the op as long as he could still move quite well, he had a problem getting started but once he was moving he was fine. Their reason being that knee joints didn't last as long as hip joints. He never did get them as cancer claimed him first. Jason had a fasination with my dads walking sticks and after he died 2 still hung on the bottom of the bannister. One day we went in, Jason was about 2 and my Mum had cut one down to fit him. He loved that walking stick.

The memory still brings a smile to my face.

Hi Anna

((((Anna))))) for the bad week.

Your poor mum. Is there much they can do to help?

One of my grandsons likes taking my stick I use when I have been travelling and he graps it at the earliest opportunity then tried walking with it. Another little monkey :-). It is good you can see the funny side.

Hugs

Aw Mary that is so sad and so sweet at the same time. Bless them the things that fascinate them, walking sticks seem to be a particular favourite!

When I was little a neighbour's son often used to babysit me and I always remember he drank tea with no milk. I really couldn't get my head round this and whenever he babysat I used to appear downstairs every couple of minutes asking 'are you having a cup of tea?' and eventually he'd make himself a cup of black tea and I'd sit right next to him and watch every sip. It must have been so annoying!!!
