Hello, in a bit of a pickle!

Hi all,

I think (organised I know) my last period started on about the 20th -22nd Jan.  I have been getting very short periods recently, only one really heavy day. At the weekend (28th), bit of an accident with our contraception. Since Tuesday have been having lots of CM so know I'm close to OV. Could I be pregnant? DH mentions it every time I see him. We are both of the opinion if I am, we'll be ok, but we had thought we were finished.

When is the earliest I should test? DH has already asked if I can, bless him! I 'think' I'm due around the 19th but I think the lengths have been a bit erratic too so I really am in the dark.

DH has now agreed to act on the referral for the snip that he got 2 years ago!

Hi there,

It is possible that your increased CM  is due to ovulation being imminent, and as sperm can live for several days, pregnancy is a possibility if you have had unprotected sex around this point in your cycle.  Unfortunately, you will have to wait until nearer the time your af is due before you can test.  As you say your cycles are erratic, I would wait another 2 weeks, and if you haven't had your af by then, do a test, as pregnancy hormones can normally be detected 2 weeks after ovulation.  You could test around 19th if that is when your af is due.

Hope that's helped a bit!

Hi there
Increased CM is a clear sign of increased fertility and imminent ovulation. As Kelly has mentioned, sperm can live for up to 7 days so it is possible that you could be pregnant as a result of the accident.

If you want to take a test then you need to wait until around 2 weeks after your think you have ovulated or around 14/18 days after the incident at the weekend to be able to be sure of an accurate test result.

Wishing you lots of luck either way hon, please let us know what the outcome is??

Thanks for the replies. Think I'm starting to dwell on it too much now! Had crampy feeling all day and I'm very gassy and bloated which is unlike me.I'm hoping the crampiness is just OV pain. Os I do get that sometimes. And I may have had some hidden gluten by mistake which would explain the tummy! Going to be a long two weeks. Will be back with news either way....... Xx

Hi,

I got AF on time but that whole cycle was very odd. I definitely had cramping leading up to (a week before) and after my AF which is very unusual, I only usually get it for a couple of hours once I've properly started. And the bloating and sore BBs went as soon as AF arrived. Maybe I had more progesterone or a cyst this month?

Whilst I would have been happy to add to our family, I'm more than happy with the two I've got so it was no biggy. I'd just forgotten how weird the TWW is!!

Thanks for checking up on me!

xx

Glad it is all resolved for you although like you say a very odd cycle.
I have noticed that after my first 2 children my cycles changed quite a lot so it may be that is what is happening to yours too. Not sure how they will be when AF returns this time. DS is only 6 weeks so we have a while yet x
