FIRST EVER AWARDS
The first annual iVillage community awards
A community is nothing without the individuals who make it - and we want to celebrate you, the fantastic lives you lead and the challenges you have overcome.
This year, we are launching the first iVillage UK Community Awards, and we want you to nominate members of the iVillage.co.uk community (who use the message boards or Connect) who deserve to be short listed for any of the following eight categories:
* Mum of the year 2007
Do you know a mum who has done something marvelous for her family?
* Carer of the year 2007
Whether caring for children, friends, parents, partners or other relatives, we'd love to hear about women making a difference to a loved one's life.
* Life change of the year 2007
This could be anything from a career change to a commitment to being totally self-sufficient.
* Special recognition - you inspire us
Please nominate any community members who you feel deserve special recognition for their inspiring lives. The reasons could be anything - from their helpfulness and optimism, to their triumph over adversity.
* Spirit of survival
Among our community, we have some real tales of survival and overcoming all the odds. Perhaps you know someone who has beaten a serious illness, or bounced back after a horrible experience.
* Slimmer of the year 2007
However they have done it, however much they have lost, getting to target weight is a fantastic achievement and we want to celebrate this.
* Outstanding friend
Come rain or shine, you know that you can count on your best friends. Tell us about your fantastic friend, and she could win an award.
* Community champions We want to celebrate those fantastic fundraisers within our community, and hear about women who 'make a difference'.
To nominate a community member, simply email ukcustomerservices@nbcuni.com and tell us the membername (and real name if you know it) of the iVillage.co.uk member you would like to nominate. Tell us which award you feel they deserve and why.
Closing date for nominations is 17 February, 2008. Anyone nominated must be a member of the iVillage message boards or Connect.
A panel of influential women and members of the iVillage team, will be short listing entries in February and winners will be announced in March.
Prizes will include make-overs and special treats - watch this space for more information.
