Diet - finding hard to lose weight!

I've had trouble with my weight since I was 15. I managed to slim down from 16 stone to 12 stone but my weight gradually crept back up to 16 stone 11lbs. I have managed to lose 18lbs in the last 6 months but I cant see the improvement in myself. I am carrying most of the weight around my middle and I am lacking in self esteem. I would like to have a baby in the near future but am concerned that my weight will cause issues.

I have not always been able to stick to a diet and although its no great achievement, my latest attempt seems to be faring well. I have cut out all cake, biscuits, chocolate and fizzy drinks and increased the amount of fruit and veg I eat. I know that I need to increase my exercise but working at least 4 twelve hour shifts a week and having a house to run means I am finding this difficult.

I know how my mind works and know that the more the weight decreases on the scales the better I will do. Does anyone have any ideas how I can kick start my weight loss to give me the enthusiasm and drive that I need.

Hi,

Keep going, I know its hard when busy, I understand about the self esteem as its one of my issues, then its a vicious circle when I over-eat because i'm down. Is there a goal that you could set, such as race for life which you need to get a bit fitter for?

Sammy xx

I really don't think there is any quick fix to this!

I am a compulsive over-eater, and struggle constantly with my weight! I am trying out Slimming World at the moment, which is great because of the volume of food you can eat! I am hoping that once I have lost the bulk of my weight, then I can maintain it by making healthier choices the majority of the time, but allowing myself treats now and again.

I also think that life is too short to deny ourselves everything. We all need some pleasure in life, and I love my food.
