Diet doing my head in!

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place or not but I had a baby 18 months ago and I'm struggling to lose the weight I put on. I used to be around 10 stone but during pregnancy I gained 6 stone, I have lost 2 stone but I'm on a low calorie where I only have 1250 calories per day and I go to the gym 4 or 5 days per week but my weight loss seems to have stopped and its getting me down, I was hoping to be back to the weight I was before I had my baby for the summer this year. I have also torn some ligaments in my knee which is restricting the amount exercise I can do so I've just been doing weights on my upper body at the gym. Any advice on exercise or diet would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Firstly welcome to the board.

Secondly eat more!

Your not eating enough to fuel your body so therefore your body has gone into starvation mode.  Increase your calorie intake but be careful not to do too much exercise that too can have an adverse effect.

Did you do your knee during exercise or was it something else.

I agree with Von, it sounds like you need to eat more. For someone going to the gym up to 5 times a week 1250 calories is low.

Thank you for your replies. How many calories would you recommend I increase to? I injured my knee leading a horse, it bolted leading a horse and I tried to keep hold of it and I slipped and ended up on the floor in loads of pain! The hospital says I've torn the ligaments and I've got to keep it straight until 26th April!

I think getting it up to over 1500 would be a good start. It's not a case of overeating to compensate for the exercise but 1500-2000 calories a day is not too many.

Ligaments are worse than a break. A agree with Sam never go below 1500 calories.  Maybe try 1800 with all the exercise.
