Are you doing anything to prevent the signs of ageing?

Hi

There seem to be so many products on the market claiming they can redice the signs of ageing. DO you tink any of them really work? Do you use any?

Are you like me and wish you'd starting using products earlier in the hope they may have delayed things a bit? :smileyvery-happy:

Hi Sunshine,

I was fortunate to test the Intensive eye syrum recently and have continued to use it after seeing such good test results. My main thing though is to wear sunscreen daily as the effects of the sun on the face promotes aging.. I do moisturise everyday but only use a basic one.

Hugs

My eyes are my biggest problem. I hate the skin underneath. I've not seen the reviews for the eye serum. Where about's are they? I think I need to go have a look!

Hi Sunshine,
I honestly think it's genetic. If we're not blessed with lasting looks or premature aging runs in the family I doubt there is much we can do about it.
I remember Dr Miriam Stoppard saying in an article once that the skin is treated from the inside by what we eat. She said that if there were products that made a difference they'd have to be registered (I think that was the word she used).
So I think there is a kind of low ceiling for all products to function up to and after that they would have to become on prescription only.

I've not been using anything in particular though I do take more care of my skin nowadays - I used to use whatever was on special offer (and cheap) in the supermarket but got sick of red and dry patches to was persuaded to use Liz Earle (and I won't use anything else now).

But I am a firm believer in drinking lots of water to help skin - I try for 2L a day. Someone at work the other day remarked how good my skin was especially as I have been on the sugary cereal, bread, butter and chocolate diet for 3 weeks (don't recomend it for weight loss!) - it must be the water.

As you know Juliet I love Liz Earle stuff but now their parent company have chosen to go against their no animal testing policy it's out for me. Really upset but there you go. I got used to not using Body Shop stuff so I guess I'll get used to not using Liz Earle too!

I agree with Owly, I think lots of it is genetic but also that lifestyle has an influence. Sleep, not having too much alcohol, not smoking, eating healthily and wearing sunscreen are positive things. It's amazing how something like a change of medication can have a massive impact on the state of hair and skin.

I think the single most important anti ageing product is - keeping out of the sun ( well, keeping it off your face where possible). Plus wearing a higher factor sunscreen on your face too.

I have fair freckly skin that never tans, so I don't go in the sun, and my skin is definitely less wrinkled that lots of others of my age!

I also use the Protect and Perfect Boots stuff - think it also helps - a bit!

HI Helen,

I agree about the sun. My mum and uncle both lived abroad for a while. My uncle must have aged 15 years in 5. It was quite a shock when I saw him.
I don't think there is any danger of the sun ageing us over here. We don't seem to get any! lol
