"A chocolate Owl cake - with white chocolate buttons for the wings, and chocolate all over chocolate buttons for the big tummy" were Katie's instructions for her 3rd birthday cake.

She was happy with the result, and actually so was I!

Chocolate sponge. Slightly more flour/cocoa than usual to make it just a little firmer for the rest to go on! I decided not to 'fill' the sponge as given the quantity of butter icing that was going to glue on the chocolate buttons it would have plenty of icing without more in the middle too!
