How do you put flowers on a cake?
Silly question probably!
I've made (and put on wires) some roses and other flowers and leaves that i want to put on the anniversary cake that I've made for my Mum and Dad. But how to do I 'put them together'? Being a florist's daughter the arranging them isn't the problem, but how do I secure them to each other? It's the being a florst's daughter that's the problem here! If they were real flower's I'd stick them in some oasis but obviously I can't do that with it being on top of a cake!
HELP!!!
H.
P.S. It's my usual Royal Iced cake if that makes any difference. And the icing is hard so no chance of pushing anythig into it!

Many years ago now since I made sugar paste flowers for a cake (MIL's 80th in 1984!) but if I remember rightly I glued them in place with thick glace icing. The cake didn't have to leave my house though so it wouldn't have mattered if I had balanced them on top.
hugs and muffins

Thanks. In the end I did something similar by using a big blob of fondant icing to secure them... I just hope they all stag OK! They've also got to travel to my Mums so I've made the flowers seperate so that they can be packed in a seperate box wrapped round with copious amounts of packaging (cotton wool I thought) and then laid on top of the cake on the day. And I'll take my spare for emergencies...!
I'll post a photo.
