Lily's Birth Story

I'll try and keep it short :smileyhappy:

At a week overdue I had a sweep done on the 17th, that started me bleeding right away and got a bit excited, my plug went on the Tuesday/Wednesday.  On the Wednesday night I had contractions, about 1 in 10 and not very strong, they went away about 1am.  My waters went around 5.30 on Thursday but they went very slowly - over 12 hours in total! Contractions started again that night about 1 in 10 again and we went to hospital to get checked out.  They confirmed it was my waters going and sent me home around midnight.  Woke at 4.30am with really bad back pains - back to back baby so contractions were there.  Walked around until 5.30 when it became really bad and called the hosptial as they were 3 in 10.  Told to take tablets and have a bath - did both but pains were getting worse so at 6.30 we went to hospital - its a 20 min drive and if I'd waited any longer I wouldnt have done it.  I have to say those contractiosn were the worst form of pain I've ever experienced!

Got to the hospital and was checked at about 7.30 and told I was already 6cm - I was chuffed with that as at least the pains were doing something :smileyhappy: wasnt allowed pethadine as babys heartbeat wasnt steady enough so at 8.30 I had an epidural - despite saying I didnt really want one lol.  They are fantastic, the pains were good after that and at 11.30 I was fully dilated.  Thats where it all went wrong for me.  Soon as they told me to push the contractions went away.  They left it an hour but at 1pm decided they needed to intervene, they were going to try the suction cap or forceps but once we got down to theatre they checked and baby was too high up to try those so had an emergency section and Lily came screaming into the world at 3.42.

A bit of a shame to have gone through all the pain of labour only to have the section in the end, but am healing up ok and she's well so thats all good.  I have to say she's not getting any siblings tho :smileyhappy:

Oh hon - wow - yu had a heck of a time it I know it was all worth it. Jenson was OP as well and we had the threat of emergency section. Thankfully he was low enough to get to with the ventouse.
Welcome Lily - I am off o share your story on UP as you asked. i am so pleased she's here at last honey. Seems forever has been and gone already.
\We're so glad you liked her outfit. She looks so tiny in it :-)
