On friday the 20th of august at 1.15pm i was 39 weeks preg lying on couch with my pack of biscuits and a cuppa minding my own business when i heard a pop and got a sharp pain in stomach never thought anything of it until a few moments later there was a gush of water, i got changed and phoned labour suite i got told as i wasnt having any contractions to go in at 4.30 to get checked over about 2.30pm i started getting pains and phoned them back midwife wanted me to hang on as long as i could until i had 3 contractions close together within 10 minutes. so off we went to the hospital at 4pm to be told we had to wait in a little waiting room as there was no spare beds! around 6pm we went to a delivery room got changed and got checked i was only 2cms dialated they gave me some pain killers which i ended up bringing back up at around 8pm the midwife said they were going to give me a shot of diamorphine and take me up to the ward for the night. Well i dint manage to get much sleep and by 6am i was back down in delivery room phoned the hubby to come straight in got checked over and in that 12 hours i had only got to 3cms dialated so they put me on a drip to start me off my god i wasnt getting any pains in my stomach it was all in my back and ive had a bad back for 2 yrs to start with so we started on gas and air which i must say i thought was useless lol i could not handle the pain in my back and the midwife kept saying i should try the epidural as i was in so much pain, well after getting the epidural in between contractions as my hubby had to keep me still on the bed, it was fab i didnt feel anything apart from the need to push which i thought was the easiest bit but i had to hold on aslong as i could as i had to have some antibiotics through a drip as it had been longer than 24 hrs from my waters breaking  as soon as i got to 5cms it took 40 mins and 3 pushes at 2.55pm on 21st august  our little girl Aleesha was here,we did have to stay in hospital 3 nights as we both needed a drip for antibiotics to fight infection with it being long time since waters had broke but we are home and she is doing fab shes my world :smileyhappy: xx

glad you managed to get some relief with the epidural, I must say they are fantastic!!! I've had all 4 of mine with one :smileyvery-happy:

Do they need to check you two over to see if the antibiotics did the trick or just leave you both to it?
