topic Baby's bedroom in General Discussions

Is anyone decorating a room for their new arrival? Ours will have the small box room which I am planning as a project over the summer hols. What colours do we like? I'm thinking 2x lime green walls & the other 2 grey or pale blue. Like the decals with baby's name & weight in a word cloud too. Going to make curtain from the Kath Kitson cowboy fabric shouldn't be too pricey as the window is small. Wall units from Ikea will be all the furniture other than the cot! No more room! Might buy a nice rug though. Tell me your plans I'm nosey & love interiors! Jillx

Well now I know we're having another boy I'm going to be very boring and do nothing!! The boys will be sharing, so will just have to move some furniture around and get DS1 a daybed from ikea. The room is already cream with a border & nice curtains so nothing to change. Though I LOVE Cath Kidston fabric (I am a bit obsessed!) so any opportunity to sneak some in I will! Plan is to make a bean bag using CK pattern & some fabric from a shop I love in Knutsford. Check out Clarke & Clarke fabric too if you like CK. C x

I forgot to add that I got the curtains from Ikea (cream with little insects on) and since you get so much left over material I made a cot tidy, a laundry bag & my mum made three cushion covers, and I still have some spare fabric floating around somewhere. So if you have enough cowboy fabric you could have a theme! C x

I was, all finished now!

My boys used to have a bedroom each, but have moved them both into the same room and decorated the spare for baby. I planned on painting it a lemon yellow tone all over but DP thought it was too bright and bought a sunshine yellow colour, which turned out to look lovely! Glossed all the white paint work, carpets were perfect so haven't needed to replace and are a terracotta colour so match well anyway. So thats it! Have decided against any sort of special decorations or pictures etc as I feel when baby is about 6 months or so she will have a favourite toy/tv program and I will want to do her room with a few of those items. Plus, I have a feeling once she is here and a confirmed pinky flavour, I will want to redo the whole room in a pink/lavender tone anyway!

Furniture wise, we bought a second hand changing unit, which is absolutely perfect and gorgeous, MIL bought us a cotbed which we put up yesterday, and I plan to buy a new set of drawers and leave it at that! Also have a big poofy armchair in one corner for when she does go into her room, and I have to do night feeds! Curtains we have been given some winnie the pooh curtains, which are rather boyish and blue unfortunately, but MIL heard about them and started buying a couple winnie the pooh items, so we now have pictures and teddies with winnie on aswell!

Took this picture yesterday of the cot side of the room, not sure if it will show here....

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/380680_188164104647011_500490206_n.jpg

xxxx

Wow! You are all so organised! LO will sleep in with us (in a crib) for at least the first few months and then will share with DD. we will need her cot so will move her to a toddler bed etc nearer the time. We are in a rented house and they said we can paint the bedrooms but have to get someone in to do it, which is frustrating, so it's unlikely we'll be going to any trouble with decorating.
When DD was born we did a yellow room with an owl and the pussycat theme, it was lovely. Our friend is an artist and painted a mural on the wall for us in lovely greens and creams and silvers. I loved it!
xx
