Hi

We have a basic dyson (DC01 or DC04), it doesnt seem strong enough for what I need it for, when I hoover the room will look clean to the eye but when Im hoovering there are bits of animal fur I cant get up however many times I go over the same spot.

Ive looked at animal dysons but have no experience of them and as they are very expensive I am reluctant to buy one. Someone recommended vax hoovers but again there are many different models and I dont know what to go for.

Can anyone shed any like please? I dont mind paying a lot as long as I know its a reliable hoover.

Love Kerry

xxxxxx

Decent bin bags???

I'm in a posting kinda mood today!

We've just started going to Tesco instead of Sainsburys after realising that the HUGE local Tesco makes Sainsburys (which we've been going to for 10 years) look like a third world corner shop LOL. Anyway I wondered if Tesco bin bags are any good? Sainsburys introduced their own for pedal bins and stopped stocking any others - we have a Brabantia 30L - and they were crap. Compared to the strong Brabantia or Simple Human ones they were useless and just ripped instantly. We're a family of four so we have to empty it pretty much every day and I need decent bags!

Thanks, Mel xxx

can't dye from a napkin??

Hi, not posted here before, but need some help!! The title makes no sense, but can't edit it!! Should have said I can't remove napkin dye'!

I put a wash on earlier, which included my DF's beige combats and after the wash I noticed a dark stain beside one of the pockets. As it was a light coloured wash, I couldn't figure out why there was a dark stain and only on a bit of the pocket, so I checked inside to find a black napkin tissue! So I sprayed some vanish onto the stain & washed again, but it didn't go, so repeated again and still no luck.

I know DF isn't going to be happy as he's moaning about a pair of boxers which have a hint of pink in them from a wash (going back months...but he's like a dog with a bone!). Anyone know how else I can get it out?? So annoyed as I usually check pockets, but didn't think of it on this wash.

Thanks!

Oooh how exciting - I get to ask you domestic goddesses a pressing question - AND be the first person to post in a sparkly new folder!

So here's the thing.

I have an enamelled CAST IRON BATH. It has LIMESCALE on it, and most of the proprietary limescale removing roducts I've bought, say NOT to be used on metal baths. So, what CAN I use to safely remove the limescale build-up. In what dilution should I use whatever you recommend, and what's the best way to apply it and how long should I leave it on for!

Don't want much do I!

Here's hoping someone here can help me.

Mellers

Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas how to clean the inside of a washign machine? I've noticed my washing is smelling a bit mouldy and when I looked inside the machine under the seal there's a thin layer of gunge coverign everything. Any ideas how to clean it? I used some washing machine cleaner from lakeland but it didn't touch it. Also tried a 90 degree wash that did nothing.

Thanks

As those of you with children may have experienced, they may manage to get hold of a permanent marker pen (or two, or perhaps three or more...) and scribble where they shouldn't!

My almost-two-year-old kindly re-decorated our laminate flooring with permanent marker, but I've successfully removed it entirely with nail polish remover! Just gave the floor a quick wipe over afterwards with a damp cloth to make sure any remaining nail polish remover isn't left hanging about.

OK, so I know a few people think I am a bit errr retentive about trying to be organised, but since doing FlyLady my night time routine has saved me more than a few times

Before bed each night:

Lay out next day clothes (do DS when I put him to bed, so if he doesnt have clean uniform I have the rest of the evening to wash and dry it)

Lay out breakfast stuff- bowls, cereal, DS' glass, my cup with teabag and sweetner in it under the Tefal Quickcup

Locate mobiles and make sure they are charged or put on charge

Find the keys and hang them up. Lock the doors.

Check DS' book bag for anyhting I may have missed

Check the calender to see what is happening next day and check the blackberry to see where I am working next day

FINALLY, shower & bed.

It sounds a lot but it really only takes 5-10 mins and it makes the morning so easy and calm (well relatively speaking- we still have rows, oversleep, lose shoes and find out that he just remembered that he needs a cereal box and a ribbon for today, but on the whole life is betetr)

Do others have nighttime routines? What do they involve? if you dont would you consider trying one?

Wait 72 hours and you can hardly see the crack at all!!!

Honestly its incredible!!!!

Hi all, I had a lightbulb moment last night when I cooked a huge pot of chicken casserole for the family. I had so much left over but didn't want to use it again so soon (I know I could of frozen it but personally I don't like re heated big chicken chunks, just doesn't taste the same) and I had an idea to blend it with a hand blender to make a soup. We had the soup today for lunch and I have frozen the rest in 2 separate portions. The blended casserole made for a delicious soup!

These extra lunches will come in very handy with my son at home on summer holidays from nursery! Great for an instant lunch when we are run off our feet...

*Yellowdaisy*
Cat pong - any ideas?

One of my pesky cats has soiled under our bed & even though DH cleaned it up, it still honks! I'm now far too embarrassed to have anyone to stay or even come over :(

Does this mean I've got to get rid of the carpet, or is there a cure that works?

Any ideas - especially non-chemical ones - would be greatly appreciated :)
